Sheriff Grady Judd receives presidential appointment from Trump

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd says protecting children is one of his highest priorities.

Judd will now get a chance to have his voice be heard on a national level after he was appointed by President Donald Trump to the Coordinating Council on Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention last week.

"I consider it a great honor that President Trump would give me a presidential appointment," Judd said. "As you know, one of my top priorities is to look after the children, and to have the opportunity to do this is outstanding."

Judd received the call last week but had a question about the length of the appointment with President-elect Joe Biden set to take over Jan. 20.

When he was told it was a three-year appointment, Judd happily accepted.

"It's truly an honor, and I'll do my very best. Our goal is to keep children safe, and if they do delinquent acts, they need to have support so they won't do it again. That's what I'll do as a part of the council."
