NSA provides programs for sheriffs, their deputies, chiefs of police, and other criminal justice professionals to perform their jobs in the best possible manner and to better promote homeland security and public safety in their jurisdiction.



The Collaborative Reform Initiative for Technical Assistance Center (CRI-TAC) program provides critical and tailored technical assistance resources to state, local, territorial, and tribal law enforcement agencies on a wide variety of topics.

NSA has consistently provided cost-effective and community-effective crime prevention materials for use by citizens and law enforcement. 


Domestic Violence & Crime Victim Services

NSA is committed to assisting local law enforcement in providing the best possible service to victims of domestic violence and other crimes.


Government Affairs

Since its founding in 1940, the National Sheriffs' Association (NSA) has been the one voice of the nation's sheriffs in Washington, DC.


Inmate Health Care and Recidivism Joint Task Force

In March 2019, NSA and NaCO formed a joint task force to reduce jail inmate recidivism through continuity of health care services.


Mental Health Initiative

Law enforcement officers typically serve as first responders to the mental health crisis due to the lack of mental health services across the United States.


National Association of Triads

Triad works to reduce criminal victimization of older persons; improving quality of life for older adults; educating and involving the community in implementing solutions; and enhancing delivery of law enforcement services to the elderly.


National Law Enforcement Center on Animal Abuse

The National Law Enforcement Center on Animal Abuse was established to provide law enforcement officers information on the realities of animal abuse, and to promote their proactive involvement in the enforcement of animal abuse laws in their communities.


Opioid Abuse Iniatives 

NSA is actively involved in dealing with the opioid epidemic.


Traffic Safety

NSA’s traffic safety department has the duty to perpetuate traffic safety issues, facilitate traffic safety program implementation, provide technical assistance and genenal support to the office of sheriff and other agencies.
