December is Impaired Driving Prevention Month
Alcohol-impaired driving fatalities account for nearly one third of all traffic fatalities in the U.S.
In 2018 10,511 people died as a result of alcohol-impaired crashes. Drugged driving is also becoming a major problem. Whether it’s alcohol or other drugs, im-paired driving is impaired driving. December is Impaired Driving Prevention Month, reminding us to continue to communicate with communities the dangers of impaired driving. Learn more about drunk and drugged driving on NHTSA’s website and find prevention materials on Traffic Safety Marketing.
The holiday season is here and while people are celebrating with family and friends we want to make sure everyone drives sober. There are two campaigns happening during this time.
- The first is the holiday season, Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving Campaign, running November 29th thru December 10th.
- The second is, NHTSA’s Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over paid media campaign running December 11, 2019 thru January 1, 2020. The enforcement mobilization paired with this campaign will begin on December 13, 2019 and conclude on January 1, 2020. Utilize the enforcement marketing materials in your efforts to prevent drunk driving and reduce related fatalities.
