Polk County Receives 2018 Sheriff/Private Security Partnership of the Year Award

Thursday, May 17, 2018

Alexandria, VA – The National Sheriffs’ Association (NSA) today announced that the Polk County (Iowa) Sheriff’s Office and The Conley Group Inc., Des Moines, Iowa, have been selected as the 2018 recipients of the Sheriff/Private Security Partnership of the Year Award.

The Sheriff/Private Security Partnership of the Year Award is sponsored by the National Sheriffs’ Association and the Security Industry Alarm Coalition. The purpose of this award is to recognize the best partnership between a sheriff’s office and a private security partner. The joint private security and sheriff’s office award recipients are selected by the NSA Awards Committee.

Building and maintaining strong and meaningful public safety/private security partnerships has been a key focus nationally at all levels of government since the tragic events of September 11, 2001. Given the fact that 85%-+ of the U.S. Critical Infrastructure and Key Resource entities are owned, operated and protected by the private sector, cooperation and collaboration between public safety and private security is essential to effective crime prevention and information sharing as well as the significant demands of response during and after a widespread emergency or disaster. Forward-looking public safety leaders like Sheriff McCarthy understand that having capable private security partners is a force-multiplier that increases communitywide public safety at no cost to the taxpayer.

Representatives for the National Sheriffs’ Association and the Security Industry Alarm Coalition will be presenting the Sheriff/Private Security Partnership Award to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and The Conley Group on Wednesday, May 23rd, 2018, at 2:00pm at the Polk County Jail, 1985 NE 51st Place. Please come in the front doors and you will be escorted to the awards ceremony.

Major Brent Long will be the PIO contact for the Polk County Sheriff’s Office on the day of the event. He can be reached at the following:

Cell: (515) 953-9955
