NSA Partners with ERAD Group to Help Law Enforcement Prevent Payment Card Money Laundering

Wednesday, November 14, 2018

Alexandria, VA - The National Sheriffs’ Association (NSA) and Electronic Recovery and Access to Data (ERAD) Group announced today a partnership that will help law enforcement agencies across the country identify and prevent credit, debit and prepaid card money laundering fraud.

Payment card money laundering is a multi-billion-dollar problem for law enforcement with billions of dollars of illegal proceeds loaded on prepaid cards each year and then moved in, out and around the country. NSA understands the problem and engaged ERAD as a Program Partner to make their solution available to all NSA member Sheriffs.

“Americans across the country each day experience the ever-growing crisis of electronic fraud and America’s Sheriffs want to be the first line of defense for their communities. I know this partnership with ERAD will equip them to do just that. I only wish this technology was available when I worked the street” said NSA Deputy Executive Director and COO John Thompson.

ERAD’s patented technology makes it easier for Sheriff’s to identify, secure and recover prepaid card cash associated with criminal activity - right at the point of arrest.  For the millions of consumers who have their credit and debit card numbers stolen each year, ERAD immediately detects fraudulent cards and produces court-acceptable documents to aid Sheriffs in the identification, prosecution and conviction of identity thieves. Additionally, jails use ERAD during intake processing to document inmate’s plastic cards, confirm prepaid card values and identify possible felony concealment cases.

“We are honored to be chosen by NSA as a Program Partner to increase awareness to the problem and help Sheriff’s and their staff recover more cash, make more cases and prosecute more criminals.’ Said ERAD President, T. Jack Williams.
