Welcome to the 2021 Virtual Meeting and Supplier Showcase of the National Sheriffs’ Association. This is NSA’s first virtual meeting — presented in conjunction with the National Command & Staff College — and we look forward to being with you for an innovative and informative event!
COVID-19 continues to challenge us all, and social distancing precautions necessitated that NSA cancel our scheduled Winter Legislative & Technology Meeting in Washington, DC. Challenges, however, also incentivize us to innovate, try new things, and grow. We heard from many of you — sheriffs, exhibitors, Federal representatives, and other law enforcement stakeholders — calling upon NSA to offer everyone an opportunity to congregate and engage. And we did! Attendance at NSA’s virtual meeting is a timely opportunity, with the new Administration in place, to again network and learn from peers, vendors, and subject matter experts in group and private settings.
Highlights of the meeting include a Keynote Address at the Opening Plenary Session on Constitutional Ethics by Rev. Christopher Dreisbach, Ph.D., of The John Hopkins University. Keynoting the Closing Plenary Session is Philip Mudd, First Deputy Director of the FBI’s National Security Branch and Former Deputy Director of the CIA’s Counterterrorist Center. In addition, all NSA Committees are convening during the meeting, as is the Western State Sheriffs’ Association, and there are seminars on topics of current importance, vendor presentations, scholarships for a free online training course, and more.
We especially want to thank NSA’s many loyal supporters for their help in making this virtual meeting a reality. Our very special gratitude to the National Command & Staff College and Chancellor, Dr. Mitch Javidi, as well as Jim Franklin and Ron Ford, for the College’s partnership with NSA in coordinating this meeting. Also, we extend our appreciation to the State Sheriffs’ Association Executive Directors for their guidance and efforts in the planning and promoting of the meeting.
In addition, we would like to thank each of our Suppliers for participating in our Supplier Showcase. Our Suppliers hold so much value within our association and help NSA to provide quality and professional resources to our Sheriffs. Without them, we would not be able to do what we do! Be sure to visit each Showcase to learn about each Supplier and show your support. You can also participate in the Showcase Showdown to be entered to win the Grand Prize!
In summary, NSA’s 2021 Virtual Meeting and Supplier Showcase is a unique forum for sheriffs, vendors, and all other law enforcement stakeholders to reconnect after a long lapse, to reflect on the lessons of the last year, and to regroup and plan together for the challenges that lay ahead. We trust that you are as ready as we to reengage!
